ED 68600 - Internship in Student Teaching


(9) A 15-week internship designed to progress through the full range of teaching responsibilities in a Public school setting. Daily evaluation by the supervising host teacher and periodic observations (5-6) by a university Field Supervisor (FS) assess and evaluate student teaching progress. A weekly seminar conducted by APU faculty addresses meeting the challenges of the K-8 teaching profession, especially as it meets diverse student needs. Offered Fall & Spring. Professional Competencies: AKS1-8.

NOTE: CO-OP students who hold a State of Alaska Tier I teaching certificate, having met all prerequisites, and are teaching full time in a K-8 program will be allowed to fulfill student teaching requirements in their own classrooms. Periodic observations for such student teaching will be provided by the APU Field Supervisor (5-6 observations) as well as a district-coordinated-appointed Host teacher (5-6 observations).
