ES 60100 - Research Methods

(4) This course presents an overview of research design and execution in a wide variety of settings. Emphasis is placed on critical thinking and precise, discipline-appropriate communication. The course is structured around each student’s development of a thesis proposal containing problem statement, hypotheses, research design, and methods. Given the importance of statistical analysis to the design of scientific studies, attending MT 22000, Applied Statistics for Environmental Science is encouraged. You do not need to register for MT 22000, you will not receive credit for it, and completion of homework assignments and exams are suggested but not required. Regular attendance at MSES events, including thesis proposal presentations and thesis defenses, is also recommended. Offered Fall.
