ANS 40100 - Federal Indian Law and Policy Part I


(4) The course will cover the historical foundations of Federal Indian Law and Policy beginning prior to the creation of the United States to Indian Title. The historical foundations of Federal Indian Law and Policy begins with Spanish colonialism, British colonialism, and Native Governance. Students learn the political relationship between Tribes and the United States on which Federal Indian law is built.  Prerequisites: WRIT 20100 - Writing & Research II: Inquiry  with a B- or better, for Alaska Native Governance students: ANS 20100 - Alaska Native Governance Systems ANS 30100 - Alaska Native Rights & the Law , Junior or Senior standing in major.
