ED 68600 - Internship in Student Teaching(9) A 15-week practicum designed to progress through the full range of teaching responsibilities in a school environment. Daily evaluation by the supervising teacher and periodic observations by a university supervisor assess student teaching progress. A weekly seminar conducted by university faculty addresses meeting the challenges of the teaching profession. Meeting Alaska scores on either the Elementary PRAXIS II (either exam) or on at least one Middle School content area PRAXIS II. CO-OP/MAT students who hold a State of Alaska Tier I teaching certificate and are teaching full time in a K-8 program will be allowed to fulfill student teaching requirements in their own classroom. Supervision for student teaching will be provided by the APU education department with school district coordination.Prerequisite: All CO-OP/MAT coursework and approval of the Teacher Education Committee. .
