This course provides a straightforward explanation of the complex health services system. It explains the basic concepts as well as current issues to clarify how the U.S. health services system is organized, managed, and financed. The course addresses the many changes happening in the U.S. health care system and updates data and statistics so students can understand and discuss the current issues. The course also examines world health systems challenges and perspectives, examining the realities of 26 major health systems around the world. Key concepts applicable to all health systems are discussed: defining a health system, health system strengthening, health system regulation, and the politics of health system reform.
