APU’s Counseling Psychology Programs are dedicated to exploring and understanding the art and science of being human. These programs emphasize positive psychology, applied learning, and take a wellness and strengths-based approach to counseling and the helping fields.
The Counseling Psychology Programs provide students with theoretical and applied foundations for successfully launching counseling careers, diversified graduate work, as well as lifelong learning.
At all levels of Counseling Psychology, graduates:
- Demonstrate counseling skills with understandings of appropriate and culturally-relevant intervention and prevention skills
- Demonstate leadership with the ability to create positive influences on others
- Demonstrate professionalism with the ability to use and value professional standards and codes, and model professional excellence
- Demonstrate research and evaluation skills to use scientific inquiry to inform counseling and helping professions
