There are many paths that can lead a student to medical school.  Although still the most common path, success in medical school admissions is no longer solely dependent upon an undergraduate degree in the biological sciences.  Majors, such as Liberal Studies, Psychology, and Environmental Study can open the door to medical careers.  As medical schools have incorporated more humanist approaches to the practice of medicine, applicants with non-traditional backgrounds are being accorded weight in the admissions process.  Completion, in good standing, of the required curriculum in the pre-med interdisciplinary concentration will allow graduates from any APU degree program to confidently and competitively apply for admission to medical school.

The pre-med interdisciplinary concentration is taken in addition to your major degree program at APU.  You will have an academic advisor for your major.  Additionally, you will work with an advisor from the Liberal Studies Department (within which the concentration is offered) to guide you through the pre-med required curriculum.
