Return to: Undergraduate & Graduate Academic Degree Offerings
The Eco League Water Resources Management Certificate* program allows students to study water resources through a hands-on program while taking advantage of the regional perspectives and local expertise at Eco League colleges. Students have access to faculty and field experiences in five distinct bioregions and broad opportunities to seek solutions from practitioners across the nation. Rigorous study of the physical properties and ecological processes related to water are combined with learning about the local and global social, cultural, and political contexts of water resources. Vetted by industry professionals, the course of study leading to Eco League Water Resource Management certification offers evidence of specific learning that adds value and employment advantages to the college degree.
The Water Resources Management Certificate program is structured as follows:
- Students choose at least six courses (four required core courses and two non-core courses) along with completion of an internship/independent study on a water-related project (Number 3 below).
- The Water Resource Management Certificate is offered in partnership with the Eco League consortium. Students take 4 courses at their home institution and 2 courses at other Eco League schools.
- Learning must be applied in a professional context; for example, through an internship or independent study. The professional experience does not need to be credit-bearing.
- Each student’s program is approved by the Eco League Steering Committee in consultation with faculty at the student’s home institution.
