Greetings,
It is an exciting time to be at APU! As an Alaska Native-serving and Tribally controlled university, we are committed to integrating Indigenous perspectives, culture, and knowledge into our campus and curriculum. Our Anchorage campus has been refreshed with a number of repairs over the summer, and we will be working on projects on the Kellogg campus this year. We also continue to work on the goals outlined in the 2018-23 Strategic Plan, focusing on
Learning, Growth, Innovation
Community Engagement and Impact
Stewardship
To this end, we will launch new programs in Community and Place-based Education, Creative Writing, and Practical Nursing this academic year, and we continue to work with community partners to identify and address critical workforce needs in the state. We also are working to expand opportunities for students to become engaged in communities around the state through internships, professional development, research, and service.
This Academic Catalog describes APU’s distinctive place-based and experiential form of education. I encourage you to take advantage of the learning opportunities highlighted in this Catalog and presented by the university and community partners throughout the year. I also challenge you to access the resources described in the Catalog to create your own, personalized path to success. APU will continue to thrive through the active engagement and unique contributions of all members of our community.
Best wishes for a productive year!
