ED 41700 - Curriculum, Instruction & Assessment: 6-8 Middle School
(3) The primary focus of this course will be on a secondary single core content area (language arts, science, mathematics, or social studies) while integrating that focus content with the other three content areas, as able, in both teaching and learning contexts in a 6-8 Middle School secondary classroom. Attention will also be paid to the history and trends that have affected the field of secondary education, criteria for selecting appropriate teaching strategies and resources, especially as it relates to AK and teaching through culture, and appropriate assessments. Pre-service teachers will develop guidelines and assessments for analyzing and evaluating Secondary materials, resources and teaching modalities. A 30-hour Practicum can include some virtual experiences. A field placement will require students to assist and teach lessons in a 6-8 Middle School. Offered Spring. Professional Competencies: AKS 1-8.
