APU’s Health Sciences programs serve to prepare care providers and health science professionals with the skills needed to provide holistic, culturally-relevant and responsive care particularly for Alaska Natives, Indigenous peoples, and other under-served populations, but also for the betterment of health care for all.
The undergraduate programs recognize that aspiring health care professionals bring rich personal histories, diverse educational backgrounds, broad practice experiences, and unique career goals. As such, APU’s programs combine high-quality, relevant coursework with real world projects and clinicals to ensure that students are prepared and guided to meet their goals.
Across all of the Health Sciences programs, graduates:
- Demonstrate cultural competence to develop relation-centered care and services
- Demonstrate professional communication, integrating collaboration and using diverse technologies, to develop optimal health outcomes for patients, organizations, and communities
