COMM 20900 - Mass Communication in the Age of Social Media (4) This introductory-level course examines the development of mass and social media from the 20th into the 21st century. Emphasis is placed on understanding how media influences individuals and communities as well as how mass communication is being shaped by content creation and information distribution through social media. Students develop presentations about (and in some cases, by means of) diverse media, including print, film, radio, TV, as well as web-served functions such as blogging, micro-blogging, and social networking. Satisfies EC Presentation & Media Literacy for Foundational Studies. Offered Spring.
