NUR 10700 - Culturally Safe Health and Wellness (3) This course provides an examination of culturally safe patient centered care and expands to include a population-focused, community-oriented approach for health promotion. Students will gain understanding of mental wellness verses mental illness. Introduces concepts relating to emotional, mental, and behavioral disturbances and disorders and social well-being. Emphasizes theory related to mental health and psychosocial nursing. The key concepts of teamwork and collaboration, safety, quality improvement, professional identity/behavior, patient/relationship-centered care, nursing judgment/evidence-based practice, managing care, and informatics/technology are addressed throughout course.
Course Evaluation:
The student will be evaluated on completion of course learning objectives using weekly exams, active learning activities and simulations. Students must achieve an AVERAGE of 73% on all proctored exams to be successful. Prerequisites: Admission to the PN Program. Offered: Fall
